It all begins with an idea…

It all begins with an idea….

I am sure it is obvious that the name of the blog stems from the hit series on Bravo.  When the show first aired, I quipped with friends how different our version would be if we were ever to get on air and…voila, The Real Housewife of the North Country was born…in my head. And now, with all of my free time, I can put it “pen to paper”.

If you are not familiar with the North Country region of NY, you are missing out! A mostly rural area with lots of forestry and countryside.  Some may think it’s not as exciting as living in some of our bigger surrounding cities (Syracuse, Rochester, Albany) BUT we have some of the most amazing scenery and quite literally experience all four seasons (some more intensely than others).  Additionally, we have Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River, and the Adirondacks right in our “back yard”.  I do suggest you come by for a visit sometime!  Aside from our natural beauty, we house some pretty amazing well-known businesses like Kraft-Heinz, Car-Freshener Corporation, River Rat Cheese, NY Air Brake, and Otis Technologies just to name a few.

As I mentioned, I have A LOT of free time as of late. I was apart of a workforce reduction leading to my layoff in December. I knew I had to make good use of this pause because it’s time I will never get back and right now, I do not plan on returning to the corporate world… at all! I actually have a visceral reaction even thinking of having to search and interview. I also need a creative outlet and though I consider myself of humbly having no talent, I will at least say I’m pretty ok with words.

I know with these things you are expected to have some sort of “niche”… I’m still figuring that part out. Right now, what I have to offer is life experiences from being a parent, corporate chaos, and living as a human on this wild planet!

Now that I am out of the woods with this layoff, I feel comfortable talking more freely about my experience. So in my next blog post (perhaps a multi-part post because GURRRRL, I have so much to say!) I am going to talk about all of the emotions, all of the changes in relationships, adjusting to a new role and purpose, and how to shift your mindset to positivity.

I’ll stop here… I hope you follow along! I truly appreciate anyone who stopped by to take a look! I am also open to suggestions and feedback so please feel free to reach out.

(Insert cute tag line here…. I’m workin’ on it!)
